We Know the Impact of Distracted Driving
For those of us at Alliance Insurance, we know just how devastating distracted driving is to families across the United States. In fact, we have firsthand experience of losing a loved one to this terrible trend. But saying that something is bad isn’t the same thing as seeing the numbers. So let’s look at just how many people this affects in our community and our nation.
In 2016, 3,450 people lost their lives to distracted driving.
That is a staggering statistic. The only thing that comes close is drunk driving, with a heart-wrenching 10,497 casualties in 2016. And worse yet, it is a totally avoidable risk. Simply choosing to pay attention and wait to text, look at the console, or even change music while driving could be the difference between life and death.
That’s why we want to do something about it.
To help raise awareness and prevent these kinds of accidents, we are offering up to $1,000 in the form of a scholarship. We are looking for a high school or college student to produce a short video highlighting the dangers of distracted driving and post it on our Facebook page. Our Facebook community will vote on the video to help us decide which one is the best. The top three will receive:
First Prize $1,000
Second Prize $500
Third Prize $250
So get started! Make your video and post it on our page. Or tell someone you know about the contest and give them a shot. This is a worthy cause and we are more than happy to put our money where our mouth is.
If you have questions just fill out the form below and we will get right back to you!
